How to Submit
Coach House Books does NOT accept unsolicited manuscripts and is not responsible for any such manuscripts sent physically or electronically.

The world has quite enough poetry already. Probably too much. Far too much. The only excuse for being a poet today is to add to the quality of poetry, to add a quality which was not there before. Bob Cobbing
If your work adds a new and valuable quality to literature, and if you believe it would fit in our list, be aware:
- We are not a general publisher, and publish only Canadian poetry, fiction, artist books and drama. We are interested primarily in innovative or experimental writing.
- We print short runs (500 to 1500 copies) that are not suited to all types of work. For example, we do NOT publish genre fiction (sci-fi, romance, mystery).
- We require print and electronic rights as we publish all titles online.
- You must be able to provide both a print and electronic version of the manuscript.
If you are interested in submitting, you MUST do the following in order to be considered:
- Familiarize yourself with our list. This means reading both online and print versions of our titles. And that means tipping authors and buying books. After all, if were interesting enough to submit to, we deserve your direct support.
- Send us a short, one page, query letter or email explaining your work. You must explain why and how it would fit within our list. Compare it or contrast it with at least two of our titles. Include a literary CV and a short sample of the work.
- Be patient; delays of several months do occur even though we try to respond promptly.
